Build a Sentence

A TOEFL iBT Writing task that asks you to compose clear, grammatically correct sentences and develop ideas using cohesion and subordination. The TOEFL iBT Writing section includes Integrated Writing and Writing for an Academic Discussion; there is no separate "Build a Sentence" task.

Intact Sentence

In the Writing for an Academic Discussion task, the intact sentence is the initial prompt sentence provided by the professor that introduces the discussion topic. Test takers can respond to it, but they cannot edit or delete that sentence.
